Getting Started
-
Every SpeedCamp journey begins with profiling. Complete our short enquiry form, and a member of our team will review your information, contact you, and arrange your profiling session and next steps.
-
Every bowler is different. Profiling helps us understand how you currently produce speed, where you lose speed, and how much capacity you have to produce more. The data and results help us identify where you can improve and what your coaching should focus on.
-
SpeedCamp uses its own proprietary profiling framework and exclusive technology, which makes our approach unique.
Our profiling provides the specific data and information our coaches use to understand how you produce speed, identify where speed is being lost and determine what your coaching should focus on. For this reason, all new athletes begin their SpeedCamp journey with our profiling process.
-
During the summer, profiling sessions take place at our coaching base at High Wycombe Cricket Club in Buckinghamshire (HP11 1DE). During the winter, profiling takes place at Eversley Indoor Cricket Centre (RG27 0NS).
Profiling
-
Bowling Profiling provides an in-depth breakdown and analysis of your bowling technique, biomechanics and high-speed running ability.
Our profiling goes beyond traditional video analysis. We use our proprietary framework to break down the kinematic chain, alongside Catapult Vector technology used in professional and international cricket. SpeedCamp is the only private coaching organisation in the world using this technology, allowing us to measure how much momentum you create in your run-up and how efficiently and effectively you transfer that momentum through your body and into the ball.
Complete Profiling includes everything above, with an additional assessment of your athleticism and physical capabilities using our research-grade ForceDecks. This allows us to measure qualities such as strength, power, stiffness and explosiveness, giving us an even more complete picture of your capacity to produce speed.
-
It depends on how much information you want us to gather.
Bowling Profiling is ideal if you want an in-depth understanding of your bowling technique, biomechanics and high-speed running ability.
Complete Profiling is our most comprehensive assessment. In addition to everything included in Bowling Profiling, we assess your physical capabilities using our research-grade ForceDecks to evaluate strength, power, stiffness and explosiveness.
If you want the most complete picture of what may be influencing your bowling speed, we recommend Complete Profiling.
-
Some athletes leave their profiling session bowling faster; however, the purpose of profiling is not necessarily to make you bowl faster on the day.
It identifies where speed is being gained and lost, helps you understand your strengths and weaknesses, and shows what you need to work on to improve.
-
After your profiling session, we analyse your results and arrange a follow-up consultation to take you through our findings, explain the areas we've identified for improvement, and discuss our recommendations.
From there, you can choose to work on those areas independently or continue your coaching journey with SpeedCamp. If you choose to continue with us, we'll create a personalised coaching plan based on what we've identified during your profiling.
-
ForceDecks are research-grade force plates that measure how you produce and apply force. They allow us to assess physical qualities such as strength, power, stiffness and explosiveness, which can influence your ability to bowl fast.
Ongoing Coaching
-
No. All SpeedCamp coaching is strictly one-to-one. We believe individualised coaching provides the best environment to understand each bowler, maximise coach contact time and focus entirely on the areas that will have the greatest impact on their development.
-
There is no set number. It depends on your starting point, goals and what we identify during profiling. Some bowlers work with us occasionally, while others train consistently for several months or even years.
For bowlers looking to make meaningful improvements, we generally recommend committing to one of our 4 or 6-month coaching packages. Your profiling results will help us determine the most appropriate approach for you.
-
All SpeedCamp coaches work within the same coaching framework and methodology. Coach allocation is based on availability and suitability, and we'll help match you with the coach best suited to you.
-
Regular coaching takes place across our indoor and outdoor venues in High Wycombe (HP11 1DE), Wokingham (RG41 5AW) and Wellington College (RG45 7PT).
The most appropriate venue will depend on the time of year, availability and your location.
Results & Development
-
Every bowler is different, so there is no fixed timeframe. Some bowlers see improvements quickly, while others require longer-term development.
Your profiling results will help us answer this question more accurately by showing what is currently limiting your speed, how much capacity you have for improvement, and what needs to change.
-
SpeedCamp cannot guarantee selection, trials or professional opportunities. However, we have strong relationships within the professional game and, where appropriate, we may recommend or introduce exceptional bowlers to relevant contacts.
-
Yes. We work with bowlers throughout the year. We can adapt coaching to your playing and training schedule, managing volume and intensity accordingly.
-
Bowling fast places significant demands on the body, but our approach isn't simply about trying harder or bowling at maximum effort all the time.
We aim to develop speed progressively by improving physical capabilities, movement and efficiency while managing training demands appropriately.
